Is this Power BI training HRD Corp claimable?
Yes. Both the public session and the in-house programme are HRD Corp SBL-Khas claimable for registered Malaysian employers. We provide the documentation you need — attendance records, trainer profile and course outline — to support your SBL-Khas claim submission.
What's the difference between the public and in-house options?
The public session is an open-enrolment run where your staff join participants from other companies, usually at Empire Tower, Kuala Lumpur, or a partner hotel venue. The in-house programme is delivered exclusively for your organisation, at your own premises (or a venue of your choice), with exercises that can be tailored to your team's own datasets.
Do participants need any coding or Excel-formula experience?
No coding is required. Basic comfort with Excel (opening a file, understanding rows and columns) is helpful but not essential — the course builds DAX and data modelling skills from the ground up.
What's the difference between Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service?
Power BI Desktop is the free Windows application where you connect to data, build your model and design reports. The Power BI Service is the cloud platform where you publish those reports, schedule refreshes, and share dashboards with your organisation. The course covers both.
Do we need an existing Power BI or Microsoft 365 licence to take this course?
Power BI Desktop is free to install and use for the hands-on exercises. Publishing and sharing reports afterwards depends on your organisation's Power BI licensing — we're happy to talk through your existing licences and what they cover.
Can this course be run in-house for our team? What's the minimum group size?
Yes — the full 2-day programme can be delivered exclusively for your organisation. Minimum group size depends on your scope and venue; ask us and we'll confirm what works for your team.
Will participants actually build a working dashboard during the training?
Yes. Across the 2 days, participants build hands-on — including a full data model, DAX measures, and a published interactive dashboard with row-level security — not just watch a demo.
